Bella Curtis

Pastoral Assistant & Office Manager

Growing up in Elgin in a traditional Indian home, Bella was naturally curious when a school friend invited her to Awana. She was in fourth grade, and her family didn’t know God. But during the teaching time, when Bella heard about God’s love for her, something clicked, and she knew He was real. Something clicked for her years later, too, when she got to know Jay Curtis. They went to school together at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, but it was their summers working together at Riverwoods Christian Center that really encouraged their friendship. Jay and Bella married in 1993 and have three children—two in college and one in high school. Bella’s time at U of I produced a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in social work, which she has used as a foster care case worker and program assistant for School District U-46.
Bella brings passion into everything she does—praying, caring for family, creating new processes to keep the church office running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. She not only manages the office but also serves as Pastor Tom’s assistant.

Scrapbooking is a favorite hobby; creating and capturing memories is important to Bella as one way of loving well the people God has put in her life. She also enjoys grabbing coffee with friends, meeting over lunch or pouring all that inherent passion into a good game night.
